Are Disposable Vapes Safe?

Disposable vapes have grown massively in popularity recently, and with that, they have come increasingly under fire in the media. But are they actually as harmful as the media are saying they are? We’ll break down everything you need to know here.

Disposable vapes are intended as single-use devices, bought pre-filled and pre-charged. These vapes cannot be refilled or recharged, once the battery dies, they are simply disposed of. It’s a great inexpensive way for new vapers coming from smoking to test out new flavours and nicotine strengths before committing to buying a full kit, or even as an emergency fix if you find yourself without your vape temporarily.  Disposables are still subject to the TPD laws set by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency). This means that they must not exceed a 2ml capacity of E-Liquid, and must not have a nicotine strength higher than 20mg (2%).

Unfortunately, the vaping industry is facing a plethora of counterfeits and non-TPD-compliant disposables, which are currently flooding the market. Counterfeits are tricky to spot, and you could easily be fooled into buying a fake product believing it is genuine. The risk associated with buying counterfeits is that they are not regulated, meaning they are not screened for toxins or any chemicals that could potentially be harmful. This is where most social media and news outlets get the idea that disposable vapes are harmful.

In summary, disposables are incredibly convenient and popular. When buying legal and regulated products, they are perfectly safe to use. Moreover, they are far better than smoking. This is why it’s so important to ensure you’re using genuine products. So how can you stay safe using them?

First and foremost, always buy from trusted vaping retailers. We take every step to make sure that all of our products are genuine, and safe to use. As tempting as it may be to save some money, it isn’t worth risking your health.

Secondly, check the packaging. The packaging will tell you the nicotine strength, and if it is anything above 20mg (2%), this means that the product is not TPD compliant and we wouldn’t recommend using it.

Finally, if you aren’t sure, don’t use it. If you have any doubts that the disposable you have purchased isn’t genuine, not using it is always the safest option. If you do experience any severe side effects, consult your GP straight away.
