What Vaping Equipment Do I Need | Starter Kits

Starter kits are exactly what you need when you’re new to vaping. They include everything you need to get started, and come with handy manuals in case you get stuck. There are a couple of options you can choose from, and this will depend on what style of vaping you feel would be better for you.

MTL Starter Kits

MTL (or ‘Mouth to Lung’) kits are generally what we would recommend for new vapers coming from smoking. The way in which you inhale a MTL kit is very similar to the way you would a cigarette. They also run at much lower power, and higher coil resistance, meaning they’re ideal for use with higher nicotine liquids. MTL kits come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. So whether you’re looking for a battery that’ll last all day, or something that will fit discreetly in your pocket.

Some staple MTL starter kits include the ‘Aspire Pockex’ and ‘Pockex Box’  AIO (All in One) kits for a smaller, more portable device. Or for a bit more battery life and more traditional tank and mod set up, the ‘Geekvape Z50’ is another great option.

Because vaping is so subjective, a lot of this process is trial and error, there will be certain types of coils and liquids that you won’t get on with. If this is the case don’t feel disheartened or that vaping isn't for you. There really is a vape kit to suit everyone's needs. It’s simply a case of trying as many different things as you can to find where you are comfortable with.

Check if your kit requires external batteries or if the battery is built in before you purchase a new kit. Most kits will use batteries in 3 different sizes, 18350, 18650 and 21700. The specific battery size you need will be shown on the product page, or if it is a built in battery, it will display the battery capacity in ‘mAh’.

DTL Starter Kits

DTL (or Direct to Lung) kits have much more airflow, and run at a much higher wattage due to the lower coil resistance. These starter kits are great for those who are wanting to chase the clouds. Most DTL kits are designed for maximum cloud and vapour production. These kits do require slightly more maintenance than your standard pod kit, but nothing too complicated. It simply is a case of keeping your tank clean and ensuring you take care of your coils.
